Senior System Administrator - Remote
Senior System Administrator required for our Cork based client. This role offers fully remote working. This is a fast paced, young, dynamic organization that develops a number of e-commerce web applications, delivering a high-performance system to global users. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge across Networking, storage and support and will make decisions that will shape the Technology used by the company.
What is involved:
- Design, and manage the deployment of highly available IT infrastructure and associated support services. This will include; racking, networks, servers (Linux and Windows), storage (shared, local), security and systems applications.
- Responsibility for the security, scalability, performance and redundancy for all platforms including capacity planning.
- Development and infrastructure support for our continuous integration environments, enabling the engineering teams to provision their own environments and deploy their own code on their own.
- Oversee and prioritise associated day-to-day operational activities, tactical projects and strategic initiatives.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards across the systems and network teams.
- Develop and implement IT Business continuity and disaster recovery plan utilising multiple data centres and cloud providers such as AWS
- Regular documentation updates for changes or new implementations
What we are looking for:
- Experience deploying on-premise, co-located and cloud-based server and network equipment
- Extensive Linux knowledge (ideally Debian/Ubuntu based)
- Extensive TCP/IP knowledge and troubleshooting ability
- Thorough knowledge of virtualisation products such as KVM, QEmu
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Amazon ECS and/or Google Kubernetes Engine
- Experience with common network services like Bind9, Apache, Nginx, syslog, haproxy, NTP
- Strong security awareness & ability to deploy solutions consistent with security policy
