An established company based in Dublin is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join their team as a network security engineer.

Key duties and responsibilities

Work with the network architect and senior security engineer on network design, implementation and on-going maintenance.

Provide Level 2 support to the Helpdesk on networking and security issues.

Communicate clearly to users the cause and resolution of IT issues in a timely and polite manner. 

Highlight and report all major IT issues and risks to Senior engineers and IT Management in a timely manner.

Research, test and implement new systems to improve efficiencies and security posture.

Assist with testing system releases, patches and disaster recovery.

Provide technical input into vendors proposal, change requests, and incident management.

Execute standard administration tasks such as reviewing system logs, monitor jobs and responding to system alerts.

Oversight of 3rd party vendor covering service delivery and performing installation works.

Assist with network analysis and support of critical network systems.

Experience and skills

Cisco CCNA or CCNP or equivalent experience 

2+ years experience as network administrator ideally in a security focused role.

Proven skills in networking to include but not exclusively : TCP/IP, IPsec, LAN/WAN technologies, Firewalls, Proxies, Load Balancers, Wireless, VOIP, Video Conferencing, QOS, 802.x

Excellent problem solving abilities and good at working under own initiative

Good decision making skills/judgment

Ability to take ownership of a technical solution and work with a number of stakeholders (internal and external) to deliver a design and implementation approach

Excellent written and communication skills in English

Ability to be able to work well under pressure during disaster situations

Proven skills in networking topics

Experience in scripting (python, bash, PowerShell) would be an advantage

Experience in networking testing or vulnerability testing would be an advantage

Experience working with both Windows and Linux would be an advantage
