Our client has created a ground-breaking platform that enables faster card transactions and a seamless eCommerce experience for customers. They are now looking for a C / C++ Principal Software Engineer to join their team.

As a C / C++ Principal Software Engineer, you’ll be tasked with designing and developing software components for our client’s innovative countertop and handheld payment terminals.
The products are highly secure devices which handle contact and contactless card payments, as well as payments made through a mobile device (Apply/Android Pay etc). You will lead a team of Software Engineers developing primarily on C++ and C and utilising a variety of web protocols to integrate capabilities to the payment partner’s PoS system, providing web services to the PoS and our client’s payment gateway.
Acting as a technical expert and leader in your field, you will make sure your team delivers software of the highest quality at the fastest velocity. To achieve this, you will need to be committed to quality standards, eager to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in to developing and mentor and train other members of the team.

To be considered, you will need:
- Experience of developing in C++ or C (and ability to learn C++ if only C background)
- Experience of XML, JSON or HTML
- Experience with Design Patterns, Refactoring, OO Design and related areas
- Experience of Linux development
- Experience working in an Agile, SCRUM, or Lean Kanban environment
- Experience in a senior role on software development teams
- A passion for and self-motivated interest in Software Development as a profession, not just a job
- A BSc or MSc or equivalent in Computer Science or related field
Analytical and organised, as a C / C++ Principal Software Engineer, you’ll need strong communication and self-motivational skills, a close attention to detail and a proactive nature. You’ll be expected to be a self-starter with the flexibility to adapt to a variety of situations and projects and the ability to function very well in a team environment.
