Due to ongoing expansion, our client are currently looking for a Java developer to join their innovative and dynamic R&D team. They want a self-starter with a good, flexible can-do attitude and a willingness to adapt to ever-changing priorities. The role involves developing software for the telecommunications market. The position will be based at our headquarters in Limerick, Ireland.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

* Participate in reviews of Design, Functional Specifications and Code developed by other team members
* Implement complex modules with minimal supervision
* Take a component design and progress it through to development, testing, documentation and delivery
* Create and review Test Plans and Test Tools
* Participate in continuous process improvements
* Install and deliver developed applications to customer sites

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED

Candidates will have a relevant degree, 2-4 years industry experience (using Java) and experience in some of the following areas:

* Good Java and OO skills
* Standard OO design patterns
* ORM frameworks such as Hibernate
* Maven and continuous integration tools such as Jenkins
* RDBMS experience ideally with schema design
* PL/SQL knowledge having used - MySQL, Oracle, PostGreSQL
* Spring Core, MVC or other Spring modules
* Web standard technologies HTML/CSS5/JavaScript
* Native JavaScript skills
* Virtualisation, Cloud-based Applications, Amazon AWS, VMware, Docker
* Agile development methods including SCRUMs and SPRINTs
* Full software development life-cycle
* Using software quality processes
* Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to work as part of a team
* Developing on a Linux/Unix platform
