Our Client is one of Ireland's fastest growing Software companies, they are currently looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to join their award winning management team.

This position will have operational responsibility for the successful delivery of all software development and software support services. This person will be tasked with ensuring that resource utilisation and allocation is optimum, that the quality of the services delivered are continually striving for technical excellence, and that the team culture is maintained through inclusive activities and open communications.

The position provides input to the organisation’s strategic planning and works to develop and execute tactics required to deliver on the strategy. The role entails monthly management reporting of team KPIs, and is expected to bring opportunities for improvement to management for consideration.

Responsibilities for the position of Software Development Manager:

• Operational responsibility for the entire software development organisation.
• Planning, scheduling, budgeting and forecasting the financial, organisational and resourcing of Action Point’s ambitious growth plans.
• Being a key member of the management team attending monthly management meetings.
• Tracking performance against budgets and reporting to the management team and board on a monthly basis.
• Closely liaising with the sales team to ensure the sales pipeline feeds into operational planning and operational availability feeds into sales planning.
• Managing the recruitment and interview process.
• Ensuring team members have their career paths planned out and are always motivated and assisted toward self-improvement.
• Maintaining and improving the team structure, identifying new roles as necessitated by growth.
• Managing and working with operational managers for the Business Analysis, Project Management, Architecture, Development, QA and Support sub-units and ensuring clear communication and handover between the different teams during every project’s lifecycle.
• Liaising with other senior managers in the Finance, IT, Sales, Marketing and HR departments to ensure cross-company coordination of larger company initiatives.
• Balancing inter-client and organisational requirements with team availability and ensuring any changes are well managed and communicated to all affected parties.
• Managing a mixture of client-driven and own-IP projects.
• Ensuring all developers have the appropriate tools (hardware and software licenses) along with training in order to excel at their jobs.
• Providing leadership, mentoring and coaching to all members of the team.

Qualifications & Experience

• Ability to lead and manage highly technical software development team of scale (>50 team members).
• Operating at a senior management and/or executive level.
• Working in a rapidly growing organisation.
• Project Management and technical background.
• Strong Management, Leadership and Mentoring skills are desired.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience working in a Microsoft/.Net focused development environment
• Commercially astute
• Financial reporting fluency
• Capable negotiator
