Engineering Degree or other qualification in engineering or IT related area 

Good technical ability, knowledge and understanding of computer programming 

Excellent IT skills. 

Good communication skills (written & verbal) 

Ability to manage resources and work on own initiative 

Interest in statistics, identifying patterns and trends in data 

Safety Focus and knowledge 

Understanding of technical standards 

Exceptional problem solving skills

This is an unusual opportunity to really help bring positive chancge around in the internal dept of one of Ireland transport authorities. Exposure to Railways and the rail sector is vey advantageous.

You will be responsible for undertaking investigations, root cause analysis and process improvement projects with the aim of improving the safety, reliability and performance of all on-board and department IT systems related to the operation and maintenance of trains. Provide technical support for the operation, management, maintenance and development of all onboard and department IT systems related to the operation and maintenance of trains.
