itContracting are seeking applications for an Software Developer this is a contract position based onsite with our client in Cork.
Specific Duties:
* Designing applications to meet key business needs and facilitate strategic developments
* Define and implement development standards and best practices across all IT Services
* Supervision of other development work to ensure other developers in IT Services adhere to these standards
* Provide coaching to any junior developers in the IT Services team
* Participating in the development and deployment of IT Applications in cooperation with external providers/vendors and/or developers.
* Driving and owning the development and implementation of business continuity and disaster recovery plans relating to IT Applications
* Develop architectural diagrams to illustrate system design and interactions
* Aligning IT Applications architecture with strategic goals
* Designing, developing and maintaining IT Applications as per operation policies laid down by management
* Conducting reviews of existing IT Applications Architecture
* Develop a 'To-Be' IT Applications Architecture to facilitate the creation of an IT Applications Roadmap
* Development and implementation of an IT Applications Roadmap
* Acting as technical lead for projects involving the design, development and deployment of IT applications
* Ensuring that technical aspects of project implementation adhere to defined Project Management methodology and development standards
* Design and build process workflows for various business requirements
* Writing clear technical documentation for all new development
* Supporting production systems escalating issues as required
* Supporting other IT personnel in the development and implementation of projects while building knowledge capital, improving the capacity of the team and sharing your technical knowledge and experience
Essential Criteria
- The minimum qualification for the above role will be an appropriate qualification of at least Level 8 (Primary Honours Degree or equivalent) under the NQAI Framework and at least 3 years relevant professional postgraduate experience at an appropriate level.
Desirable Criteria
* 3+ years' experience of API development for integrating various systems and platforms
* 3+ years' experience of Ruby development
* 3+ years' experience of Java development
* 3+ years' experience of data warehouse development and design (Oracle PL/SQL and/or MS SQL Server and/or mySQL)
* 3+ years' experience of web development including JavaScript.
* Experience of multiple software development methodologies
* Experience developing in the Microsoft BI suite including SSRS, SSAS, SSIS along with data modelling, report development, query tuning and index optimisation
* Experience of agile software development in an environment of process redesign
