Upstream Risk Officer , for Group Governance Risk - Bank of Ireland

The role of Group Compliance and Regulatory Risk (GCRR) is to lead and develop regulatory risk management in support of the Group`s Strategy. As the 2nd Line of Defence for regulatory risk, GCRR undertake the following:

* provide specialised and expert guidance and advice to business units
* maintain formal governance and oversight of regulatory risks and remediation
* identify and assess actual and potential risks and their impacts
* implement in conjunction with business risk owners, effective risk treatments
* maintain constructive relations with regulatory authorities
* ensure effective monitoring and review of the effectiveness of risk treatments
* provide regular assurance to internal and external stakeholders via consistent and robust reporting

In this context, one of the key regulatory risks is Upstream risk. This is the risk of failure to meet new or existing regulatory and / or legislative requirements and deadlines or to embed requirements into processes. It also includes the risk to the Group`s capital, liquidity and profitability from the impact of future legislative and regulatory changes. The Upstream Risk Officer is a member of the Upstream Risk Team.

The key purpose of this role is to support the effective oversight of new/emerging regulation/legislation through the maintenance and further development of the Group Upstream Register. You will co-ordinate tracking processes required to keep the Group Upstream Register current and fully up to date. This will involve continuous and strong engagement with internal stakeholders, including onward notification to ensure there is timely awareness of new Upstream matters/developments. The role holder will schedule Upstream Risk briefings that are carried out by the Upstream Risk team with stakeholders across Group.

In addition, you will be directly engaged in the provision of risk advice to the business. In this context, you will be engaging directly with business units in the form of stakeholder engagement, workshops and supporting the identification of solutions to the challenges posed by the regulatory change agenda.

Location: This role is based at our offices in Mespil Road, Dublin 4.

Reporting to the Senior Risk Manager, Upstream , you will:

- Identify and track from external sources matters which may be of relevance to the Upstream agenda, ensuring appropriate updates on the Group Upstream Register and onwards communication to impacted internal stakeholders.

- Maintain the Group Upstream Register and prepare for monthly publication to GEC, GEC-1 and other key stakeholders.

- Support the delivery of the Upstream stakeholder engagement plan with business units, for example, impact assessments, communication/information sessions and workshops.

- Assist in the assessment and review of new/emerging legislation/regulation and consultation papers.

- Support the promotion of collaborative business engagement in ensuring Upstream requirements are addressed.
