Description of Business Unit

Group Credit and Market Risk provides strong independent oversight and management of the Group`s Credit & Market Risk strategy, Credit Risk management information, Credit & Market Risk underwriting, as well as strategic oversight and, as appropriate, the management of certain challenged portfolios.

Within this, the Retail Credit Mortgage Arrears Resolution Strategy (MARS) & Consumer Challenged Assets Unit is responsible for providing credit oversight to the development of strategy and policy for ROI mortgage and consumer credit arrears management. The Unit also conducts relevant analysis of the mortgage book, including forbearance effectiveness and resolution monitoring, to ensure the timely and effective deployment of relevant risk mitigation strategies.

As credit & risk data is a key strategic resource for the Group, we are establishing a small expert team to better understand the information contained within the credit data, identify the data that is most important and to draw the knowledge that comes from analytical insights. While this role is within the Retail Credit Mortgage Arrears Resolution Strategy (MARS) & Consumer Challenged Assets Unit, its remit will extend to the full Credit and Market Risk Division.

The role-holder is responsible for examining and analysing the vast array of retail credit data at its disposal, and for delivering value-added analytical insights to the Credit and Market Risk Division.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Analyst, Data Analytics will utilise an understanding of economic and statistical theories, business information, reporting systems, accounting and auditing standards, data analysis and investigative techniques in order to play a key credit risk management role.

The key responsibilities include:

* Developing methods for extracting large sets of disparate and complex credit risk data, carrying out due diligence checks to establish the validity, relevance and quality of this data, and preparing and modifying the data for use in core and advanced analytics techniques.

* Utilising core and advanced analytical techniques to identify trends, clusters, patterns and associations that are not apparent through normal monitoring. The role holder needs to be insightful, inquisitive and analytical, and quickly develop a strong understanding of the business context in which they operate.

* Delivering key insights by providing high quality, tailored results which interpret, summarise and present complex information in a manner which is clear, understandable and properly justified.

* Supporting a strong analytics agenda by maximising the information, resources and analytical power at the Group`s disposal, and identifying and implementing industry best practice in the area of data analytics for Credit Risk.

* Scoping and developing the use of historic and current credit risk data for predictive analytics.

Essential Key Requirements:

* Third-level qualification in mathematics, statistics, finance, IT, or another discipline involving a significant numerical element.

* Relevant experience on large analytical projects carrying out core and advanced analytical techniques.

* Strong logical thinking, verbal and quantitative reasoning proficiency and the ability to visualise, analyse and summarise large, complex datasets using a range of data analysis and statistical techniques.
