The Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications has responsibility for policy and programmes across a number of areas of national strategic importance, encompassing telecommunications including the National Cyber Security Centre and cyber security policy.
The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is part of the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications and is responsible for leading in the management of major cyber security incidents, providing guidance and advice to citizens and businesses, and managing cyber security related risks to key services, including Government and critical infrastructure.
The NCSC is now seeking a dynamic and capable person with substantial leadership experience to fulfil a key role in the governance of the organisation. Reporting to the Director of the NCSC (Deputy Secretary General), the Chief Technical Officer will lead teams with responsibility for engineering, capacity building and security.
The successful candidate(s) will have;
· Significant senior management experience (at least 5 years) in IT and Cyber Security, either in operational or technical roles, including experience with engineering, malware analysis and incident response and cryptographical technique;
· Recent experience (in the last 3 years) in implementing effective technological development solutions including in cyber or related areas;
· Excellent communication, networking and influencing skills as required to operate at a senior level.
· An appropriate qualification at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications in cyber security, computer science or a directly related field;
