Employing more than 35,000 people across 16 Government Departments, and more than 20 other Offices/ agencies nationwide, and with a vision to provide world-class digital services to the State and to the people of Ireland, the Civil Service is now recruiting Senior ICT Software Development Specialists at Higher Executive Officer level. 

The Senior ICT Software Development Specialist is generally a team-lead role which offers you the opportunity to further develop your digital and ICT career while working in some of the largest organisations in the State.  These roles will suit you if you are interested in further developing your career in areas such as software and application development (programming) including for mobile, web development and analytics. Many of the candidates who were successful in recent campaigns are now integral to and leaders of teams who have been instrumental in the Government’s response to the pandemic and delivered critical projects of national importance and public prominence.

Although the majority of vacancies arising over the lifetime of the panel will be located in the wider Dublin area, a limited number of vacancies may also arise in some regional locations which may be filled from this panel. A panel will be formed from this competition to fill Senior ICT Software Development Specialist vacancies in Civil Service Departments, such as the Department of Social Protection/ Agriculture/ Food and The Marine/ Public Expenditure and Reform (Office of the Government CIO), offices such as the Revenue Commissioners, Office of Public Works and Houses of the Oireachtas Service, and Civil Service roles in An Garda Síochána.
