You will work directly in the performance management team, testing and improving Planet's transaction processing and back-office systems.
Create and improve scalable, resilient database systems with an always-on mindset.
Achieve greater efficiencies within our OLTP ecosystem.
Identify areas for improvement with respect to database architecture, and work on bringing these to a production-ready state.
Utilise programming skills to retrieve, analyse and process data.
Participate in some application side reviews, with respect to database connectivity and performance tuning recommendations of the application and underlying OS.
You will review, optimise and approve stored procs created by other development teams before production releases.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics or similar.
10+ years' experience in database analysis.
Strong understanding of application performance testing and performance engineering.
Technical DBA who understands and has a proven track record of utilizing in-memory DB tables and a deep understanding of BC/DR.
Database knowledge and expertise in MSSQL; experience with other RDMS such as NoSQL, MySQL or Oracle is a plus.
Experience with cloud database services is required, implementing HA databases in the cloud for OLTP advantageous.
Ideally have a programming background to assist with code reviews during testing.
Proven skills with large distributed systems such as large scale distributed database systems, geographically dispersed transaction processing, or horizontally scaled request processing systems.
Ability to advise when to implement partitioning, are able to read database diagnostics, KPI's and make corrections and tune performance on these criteria.
