Overview

Manages the delivery of large end to end programmes of work, along with the defined work packages to the client and providing effective management to teams and giving guidance to others and key business users.
Provides management for the team in planning, designing, and developing frameworks and procedures relating to quality whilst meeting on-time and on-budget project goals.

Able to assess available technologies, and recommend solution options according to the customer’s activities and requirements expected to collaborate with customers, other consultants and core stakeholders to understand user requirements.
Directs and manages the full project-life cycle, setting standards for assignments and applications. Responsible for the delivery of the defined work packages to the client and providing effective management to teams and giving guidance to others and key business users. Provides management for the team in planning, designing, and developing frameworks and procedures relating to quality whilst meeting on-time and on-budget project goals.

 

Responsibilities

Core Programme Test Manager Skills:

  • Develops strategies and directs teams with diverse scope on complex programmes of work.
  • Facilitation of workshops and requirement gathering sessions and able to describe the level of risk associated with various projects.
  • Ensures that project deliverables are completed within agreed cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off, proactively aims to achieve personal and team utilisation targets.
  • Uses project planning tools and participates in the identification of and planning for future resource needs. Develops a fit-for-purpose reporting mechanism.
  • Responsible for overall test plan design and processes, applying, articulating and constructing business specific end to end scenarios, defining standards for the development of test scripts, deployment and reuse.
  • Specifies the test environment for the whole life-cycle testing and ensuring it reflects business requirements for execution. Consults with key business stakeholders to ensure application design is optimised for testability.
  • Allocates and co-ordinates test schedules, work and resource plans; managing progress of all activities against the plan, managing own deliverables and that of others to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Provides quality assurance evaluation estimates on various projects, including the ability to execute vision, goals and direction of a team/teams.
  • Diagnoses problems and probes underlying issues to generate multiple potential solutions.
  • Can proactively anticipate and prevent problems, facilitates buy-in and guides implementation of corrective and/or preventive actions for complex issues. Identifies potential consequences and risk levels.
  • Creates quality assurance procedures and user instructions to ensure a reusable process and tools approach. Defines and implements quality process improvements and metrics focused on defect prevention.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects or release level.
  • Inputs into proof of concept exercises and assists sales with pre-sales collateral. Identifies opportunities to expand client assignments

Client Delivery

  • Manage all aspects of the delivery lifecycle;
  • Assure the quality of delivery
  • Promote industry standards, best practice.
  • Initiate, drive and implement continual improvements
  • Build and manage credible, trusted advisor relationships with key client stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Manage the client relationship from the delivery perspective, ensuring the onsite resources are delivering to the agreed engagement terms;
  • Participate in formal client progress review meetings,       providing relevant reporting as agreed on a client-by-client basis based on standard expleo approaches;
  • Work with the Consultancy Organisation to resource client projects to achieve the corporate goal of having “the right consultant in the right place”;
  • Liaise with Finance & Administration to ensure resourcing needs (current, known and tentative) are entered into the resource planning system (currently Changepoint) in a timely and accurate way;
  • Liaise with the Market Directors, Legal and Finance & Admin to ensure relevant legal commercial coverage is in place across all client engagements;
  • Ensure relevant client reporting is performed to expleo standards, schedule and is accurate.
  • Ensure that deliverables are on time and to required scope and quality standards.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the technical delivery, or the programme as a whole. Challenge internal stakeholders to contribute to improvements to the overall effectiveness of the delivery process.

 

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
  • ISTQB

Desirable:

  • Additional course or certification in Quality Assurance
  • Project Management qualification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
  • ISTQB Advanced
  • Additional course or certification in Quality Assurance
  • Project Management qualification

Skills

  • Extensive technical knowledge and experience with complex IT programmes.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge in quality assurance methodologies, applying standards and specialist quality assurance expertise to deliver whilst providing effective management to teams.
  • Extensive application/technology and domain knowledge and has recognised expertise in QA Management including participating in the identification of and planning for future resource needs.
  • Strong knowledge of new and emerging technologies based on own area of expertise.
  • Experience in managing the change control procedure.
  • Experience in providing technical management and being responsible for overall test plan design and processes and experience in quality assurance evaluation estimates on various projects.
  • Experience in diagnosing problems using formal problem-solving tools and techniques from multiple angles and probing underlying issues to generate multiple potential solutions.
  • Experience in advising clients and clearly communicating the benefits of implementing specific quality assurance solutions and identifying areas to add value.
  • Excellent client facing skills
