Becoming a Junior IT Project Manager with Capita IT Services:

Due to recent successes, Capita IT Services have a strong pipeline of projects and are now on the market to recruit a Junior Project Manager for our Centre of Excellence in Newtownabbey. We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual to manage the successful delivery of projects into the Education Network Northern Ireland managed service contract.

Working with Senior Project managers, you will have responsibility for ensuring that projects are delivered to a high standard of quality and in accordance with the agreed plans, costs and revenue profiles.

As part of a team of Project managers you will be responsible for the successful delivery of projects and ensuring the appropriate level of governance is followed. You will ensure that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and provide regular and accurate reports to stakeholders within our business.

What you'll be doing:
* Reports issues and non-compliances, and proposes and monitors action for resolution
* Maintains awareness of good practice frameworks, within the sphere of Business and IT - capability and maturity models, and relevant standards
* Engages with the implementation of business systems and IT controls to measure performance, manage risk and ensure that IT and the business work together
* Effectively estimates costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of small to medium projects to agreed terms of reference
* Ensures that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and tracks all activities against the plan, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders, as appropriate
* Monitors costs, timescales and resources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances. Ensures that delivered systems are implemented within these criteria
* Manages the change control process and ensures that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off. Gains agreement for revisions to the project(s) from project sponsors
* Provides effective leadership to the project team ensuring that team members are motivated and developing their skills and experience. Takes appropriate action where performance deviates from agreed tolerances. Actively represents the project team, ensuring that effective relationships are built and maintained with the business
* Evaluates and makes recommendations/decisions on technical options as appropriate

What we're looking for:
* Broadly skilled in information technology including application and infrastructure environments.
* Knowledge of relevant development lifecycles including traditional waterfall and agile methods
* Proven and demonstrable experience of project delivery
* PRINCE II foundation (or equivalent) or working towards or equivalent
* Methods and techniques for reporting progress and financial compliance against an agreed plan
* Methods and techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects
* The identification, assessment and management of project risks, which could result in time or cost over-runs, or failure to deliver products which are fit for purpose
