We are a small company, employing circa 80 people across three locations in the UK, each of which contribute to the successful delivery of a huge array of projects, covering video, voice and data processing.
The Bid Manager will assemble a bid team with the knowledge required to prepare a winning bid, whilst taking ownership of the end-to-end bid process. The person will manage every opportunity from qualification through to contract award, including value proposition / strategy development, solution development, commercial considerations, partner identification and risk management. This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines. It will require strong people management and commercial management skills.
The responsibilities of any successful candidate will include:
•Lead, coordinate and manage Bids through their full life cycle in accordance with the company's governance processes and procedures.
•Help Define bids scope, timeline, objectives and deliverables from the customer Tender Documentation, SOW & Requirements.
•Manage inputs from a variety of internal and external stakeholders including sub-contractors.
•Support and direct multi-disciplined bid teams typically involving Sales, Engineering, Production, Finance, Commercial, and Operational Support.
•Compile suitable reporting documents covering performance against schedule, budget, quality, risk/issues, etc.
•Support of various bid/sales internal governance reviews.
•Create & tailor bid documents required by the customer as part of the bid submission.
•Compile, edit and proof-read the written proposal such that a high quality, bid winning proposal is submitted.
•Support Engineering in the definition and creation of the Work Packages required to deliver the bid
•Support Commercial in the creation of the commercial & financial documents required as part of the bid submission, ensuring all input needed to deliver the project is included in the final price to the customer.
•Understand and help resolve complex technical, strategic and business issues, whilst delegating and coordinating interfaces with internal functions and Senior Management as appropriate.
•Ensure timely delivery of compliant and commercially sound bids.
•Be a single point of contact to the Bid customer.
•Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of effective bid management processes, tools/templates and reporting mechanisms.

•Excellence in the use of relevant IT including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
•Ability to work in a high-pressure environment focused on delivering to tight deadlines.
•Sound business judgement.
•Technical appreciation of complex problems.
•Previous management experience covering financial, commercial, engineering and project areas.
•Previous experience working at CEO/Director level (internal & external customers).
•Availability to travel throughout the UK and Worldwide as and when required.
•Bachelor's degree supported by 5+ years direct work experience in a bid management capacity, including all aspects of Bid development and execution
•Proven capability in delivering and winning multi-million pound and highly complex technical Bid opportunities
•Demonstrable experience of working with multi-functional and multi-site/worldwide internal and external stakeholders including sub-contract organisations
•Experience of full bid lifecycle management
•Demonstrable experience of direct input into opportunity qualification, win strategies, commercial discussions and solution design
•Previous commercial, budget, profit & loss & risk management experience
•Background in hi-tech solutions and services
•Knowledge of electronics and security manufacturing organisations
•Management of contracts with defence organisations
