Main Duties and Responsibilities

* Providing advice on procurement procedure
* Maintain and develop commodity expertise with a particular focus on emerging trends, technologies and other factors determining the competitiveness of the marketplace
* Establish and lead Commodity groups comprised of key internal stakeholders
* Conduct analysis and research of current expenditure on assigned commodities
* Develop sourcing strategies for commodities/projects
* Conduct tenders for suppliers, Services and Service Concession Contracts/ Licenses in line with University policy
* Conduct Supplier negotiations
* Manage contracts and evaluate supplier performance
* Work in close co-operation with the Office of Government Procurement and the Education Procurement Service
* Manage relevant projects as they arise(e.g. stock control, purchasing cards etc )
* Organisational and administrative duties associated with tendering and contract management
* Records Management - Keep updated all files and relevant records pertaining to the procurement process on an ongoing basis
* Report on project progress, cost savings and other initiatives
* Deputise for the head of the the unit as required
* Other tasks may be assigned from time to time by the head of the unit
