Responsibilities
* Design expert systems to provide automated, highly efficient processes to manage the capacity of 2G, 3G, 4G RAN networks
* Design expert systems enabling strategic planning for future RAN networks for LTE advanced and 5G.
* Analyse the impacts of resource limits, numbers of users and network features for prioritisation and sharing of resources on expected throughputs and quality of experience
* Develop data models and schemas to provide an accurate model of RAN nodes and network functions
* Design algorithms to identify RAN bottlenecks and required upgrades to resolve
* Design SQL procedures to provide key data analytics of network RAG status of congestion, utilisation and user experience
* Understand and document operator business processes to efficiently manage networks
* Provide user story boards and detail use cases to support system and user interface design
* Work with SW and database architects to design SW system architecture
* Specify system features and requirements to SW development team
* Provide detailed functional specifications to SW development team
* Engage with our customers to review and improve the usability and performance of our software products
* Investigate and troubleshoot system performance and customer issues
* Quantify the value our systems bring to our customers in terms of capacity gains, network efficiency, performance improvement, business process efficiency and CAPEX and OPEX savings
* Provide technical sales support and collateral materials for marketing
* Research technical and market trends to feed into our product strategy
* Work with big data and machine learning techniques to continuously improve accuracy and performance of our SW systems and predict future RAN requirements
* Provide technical network engineering support to our customers and our solution delivery team
* Write support documentation and product user manuals
Skills - Required
* 5 years + experience of RAN capacity management for 2G, 3G, 4G networks
* Highly experienced in RAN feature testing and optimisation particularly for network densification such as MIMO, beamforming, CoMP
* Has specified complex site configurations that balance shared resources and capacity on multi-standard nodes with software defined radios
* Planned and prioritised resource sharing among competing services such as VoLTE, NB-IOT and non GBR data to ensure quality of service
* Expertise in traffic modelling and layer management strategy planning
* Strong knowledge of quality of experience from a full end to end perspective of the network
* Has developed analytic processes and algorithms to identify bottlenecks and root causes
* Forecasted capacity requirements for yearly budgets
* Planning of new RAN system functionalities and SW enhancements, capacity and RAN system configurations and provided cost analysis
* Experience of multiple vendors particularly Huawei, NSN, ZTE and Ericsson
* Developed RAG reports and dashboards for cross organisational and executive level reporting
