Our client are a leading financial services provider based in North Dublin.

They are seeking to appoint an IT Project Manager to a permanent role. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of project planning governance & control to ensure effective implementation through an industry standard, best practice project management methodology. The role includes planning, resource management, scope management, financial management, risk management, stakeholder management, communications and aspects of supplier management in the delivery of projects.

The role:

• Responsible for the end to end planning and delivery of IT and Business Transformation projects and initiatives
• Responsible for project oversight and control activities, including, definition of scope, solution design, business case development and validation, business requirements definition, project governance, technical specification and design, test planning, operational planning, implementation planning and project closure
• Creation and control of project plans and project teams for departmental, cross departmental, and company-wide projects delivery both IT and business change
• Manages project delivery in adherence to agreed Insurance project management procedures and practices
• Responsible for project delivery risk and issue management, including the identification and implementation of risk and issue mitigating actions
• Responsible for project cost management – Includes definition of project costs and benefits and on-going cost management through project execution
• Responsible for ensuring that projects are delivery on time, to agreed level of quality and within approved budget
• Delivery of effective & accurate project progress reports that can be analysed and understood at all levels within the organisation
• Responsible for project stakeholder management to ensure effective delivery of project objectives – including escalation management
• Exercise effective change control, demonstrating time and cost impact for all change requests on assigned projects
• Lead and motivate a multi-disciplinary team to achieve project objectives
• Manage resource assignment to the project to ensure the necessary resources are made available at the right time to support project execution
• Responsible for project governance – includes preparation of inputs and responsibility for chairing project board meetings

The ideal candidate will have:

• Project Management Qualification (e.g. PRINCE2 / PMP/Scrum Master)
• 5+ years Project Management experience across IT and Business projects
• Excellent knowledge and proven experience of working with IT Software Development Lifecycle methodologies including Waterfall & Agile
• Experience with Agile Techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous testing etc.
• Experience in using techniques for filling in intentional gaps left in Scrum approach such as Burndown techniques, retrospective formats, handling bugs etc.
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• Strong negotiation skills with proven ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders and to influence stakeholders in support of project delivery
• An effective team manager – proven ability to build, motivate and support a high performing team
• Robust relationship management - capable of working with all levels within the organisation by building effective relationships
• Ability to continuously improve project management processes, tools and methods as required for the project
• Experience in working with third party suppliers in the delivery of business or IT change initiatives – including experience of working with offshore vendors
• Excellent analytical, reporting, people & motivation skills
• Acute understanding and ability to demonstrate expertise in Quality Management, Project Planning, Risk & Change management
