An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Systems Engineer here at Jaguar Land Rover Ireland. We are looking for someone with previous experience to undertake this new role and make a difference. Expect to be operating within a multi-disciplinary product team, the team is responsible for creating and developing new (and improving existing) location service products. It is crucial for the successful candidate to have strong collaboration skills and have an innovative mindset.
Empowered to lead technical aspects of the engineering tasks, to support the Product Owner in identifying creative ways to maximize the delivery of the product roadmap and backlog, whilst recognizing dependencies, gaps and risks.
The role requires a strong system level understanding of the functionality and use cases of Vehicle Positioning, Electronic Horizon and Map Data across in-vehicle applications. Deploying and delivering innovative service solutions to enhance vehicle performance and driver experiences for our most discerning of customers.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
You will need to be proficient working within a multi-disciplinary product team to define the system design and requirements for vehicle positioning and electronic horizon services. It is imperative that you are empowered to make technical decisions in order to solve problems aligned to a defined product vision, mission, and goals.
As this is a role that needs a strong level of communication you must be proficient in facilitating stakeholder collaboration as requested in order to put the customer needs first. You will be required to maintain technical knowledge through research and supplier engagement in order to collaborate on the strategic approach of the product and be able to develop this further.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Essential:
Working experience of applying a Systems Engineering mindset to solve complex technical issues using a structured approach - ideally within the Automotive Sector.
Working experience of system design definition, system architecture development and requirement specification.
An appreciation of modelling for system prototyping, system simulation and system validation.
Excellent inter-personal skills, sharing knowledge and information across the product team and organisation.
Good knowledge of Agile Scrum methodologies and how to apply them.
An ability to analyse a high-level concept and apply an innovative and problem-solving mindset to break down and deliver a solution.
Knowledge of the use case surrounding location services (Vehicle Positioning, Electronic Horizon and Map Data) across vehicle applications to improve customer experiences. I.e., Navigation, Assisted and Automated Driving and Energy Optimisation.
A strong desire to continually improve and adapt, both personally and supporting others across the product team.
Desirable:
Experience of working in an Agile product development environment and using in tools such as Confluence & JIRA
Experience in the delivery of Vehicle Positioning or Electronic Horizon systems, through the system engineering life cycle, including requirement elicitation, interface definition verification and validation.
Experience in Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML using IBM Rational Rhapsody, Dassault Systems Catia Magic or similar toolset
Experience in IBM Rational DOORS, Dassault Systems TRM or similar toolset
Experience in using Matlab & Simulink
