itContracting are currently seeking applicants for a Network Security Engineer. This is a 6 month day contractor position located with our client in Dublin 2. This is a hybrid role, requiring you to be in the office 1-2 days per week. 
 
Responsibilities:

- Manage and implements improvements in the IT network and security landscape
- Maintaining LAN, WLAN and network security devices as per the business policy and security best practices
- Manage remediation efforts for any gaps reported by the Information Security Lead
- Develop and maintain documentation of security products including specific tools, technologies and processes
- Implement automation where possible for perimeter security technologies to remediate vulnerabilities, identify gaps, create alerts and reporting
- Actively assist in the deployment and implementation of multiple security projects
- Assist in the day-to-day operation and improvement of the Information Security System Management
- Develop, improve and maintain technical security measures

Essential Criteria:
 

- Degree in Information Technology or related fields (Computer Science, Information Science, Software Engineering) or a Degree in Engineering with additional IT qualifications or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in a network security role
- Strong understanding of Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs), intrusion detection & prevention systems (IDS/IPS), DDoS mitigation solutions, and VPN (virtual private network) gateways
- Experience with proxy, mail relay and other perimeter hygiene solutions
- Previous experience of managing, troubleshooting and implementing critical wired & wireless networks
- Knowledge of network segmentation and principles of zero trust architecture
- Hands-on experience with vulnerability management a strong technical understanding for assessing vulnerabilities and the ability to remediate them
- Knowledge of Defense-in-depth and security controls
- ICT security best practices and standards – knowledge of NIST/ ISO frameworks
- ICT Security Certification or equivalent (CISSP, SSCP, Security+, SANS, CRISC, etc.)
- Network accreditation or equivalent (Cisco, Fortinet, etc.)

Desirable Criteria:
 

- Strong understanding of technologies outside of security is an advantage (SharePoint, Windows Server, Office365, etc.)
- An understanding of Microsoft Azure security is an advantage
- Scripting knowledge strongly desired (bash, PowerShell, python)
- Unix/Linux skills
