CloudWatch is an observability service built for developers, system operators, site reliability engineers (SRE), and IT managers. CloudWatch collects monitoring and operational data in the form of logs, metrics, and events, providing a unified view of AWS resources, applications and services that run on AWS, and on-premises servers. Customers use CloudWatch to set high resolution alarms, visualize logs and metrics side by side, take automated actions, troubleshoot issues, and discover insights to optimize their applications, and ensure they are running smoothly. The CloudWatch team in Dublin is growing and we are looking for an exceptional Director of Software Development to lead our awesome development teams and create the next generation CloudWatch experience.

Key job responsibilities
As a Director of Software Development for the CloudWatch organization, you will be responsible for leading a group of top talent in the design and development of CloudWatch. In this role you will drive the roadmap, deliver new functionality and architectures, and raise the bar for operational excellence. You'll lead multiple engineering teams through managers. You'll define and drive new features and services that excite customers and stoke their imaginations about what's possible in the cloud. You'll be a leader in the business as well, owning the financial health of your services. You'll personally engage with C-suite customers to represent the Amazon CloudWatch business.
Success in this role requires a leader experienced in establishing and building relationships with a wide range of peers, including senior AWS executives, customers at all levels of experience and responsibility, deeply technical software and systems engineers within the team, and internal organizations. This leader must have the proven skills to easily switch between weighing in on complex engineering details, taking a long term view of the business, growing and developing the next generation of AWS leadership, and overall operating as a large-scale organization leader. It requires an ability to prioritize work for the direct team and partner teams, establish goals, and focus attention on the most important inputs to drive the desired business outcomes. This leader must be capable of scaling themselves and their team to meet the ever-increasing demands of a fast-growing business. You'll need to excel at hiring and developing your technical talent. CloudWatch operates at large scale and is critical service for AWS customers, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (related field) or equivalent work experience.
Senior leadership experience, ideally in the field of monitoring, observability, or cloud computing.
Exemplary written and verbal communications skills
Significant demonstrable experience architecting fault tolerant and high availability systems.
Proven experience managing people including managing multiple managers/teams. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A leadership position in a team delivering solutions at scale.
A passion for high scale, real-time, data-driven, monitoring and observability systems.
