About the role:
As a Lead Software Engineer at Optum, within the Optum Advisory Services group, you will be both a key hands-on contributor and a technical leader within a team of talented software engineers. You will be a collaborative self-starter that can take ownership and passionately drive results. You will help guide colleagues on the technical direction for the team and will support leadership in ensuring best in class agile and engineering practices are used. You will take the lead in solving technically complex problems and be comfortable providing guidance to the team and to other key stakeholders as appropriate. This role will involve working with a distributed, global team with multiple stakeholders.
This role is within the StepWise Product development team within the wider Optum Advisory Services group. The StepWise software is a cloud based platform built upon .NET Core, Kafka, MongoDB and ElasticSearch. It is currently deployed to Azure and on premises.

Design and implement product features in collaboration with business and other stakeholders
Design and develop a Jenkins-based CICD framework for Azure to build and deploy to multiple environments
Design reusable components, frameworks and libraries
Work very closely with the development team, product owners and other stakeholder and drive solutions
Participate in an Agile/Scrum methodology to deliver high-quality software releases through Sprints
Review code and provide feedback relative to best practices and improving performance
Troubleshoot production support issues post-deployment and come up with solutions as required
Mentor and guide other software engineers within the team

Proven Software Engineering experience with development skills using the .NET Stack and .NET Core in particular
Proven experience performing CICD with Jenkins, Terraform, GitHub, Containerization, using SonarQube to implement Quality Gates
Experience working in Azure cloud platforms (Azure, Azure API Gateway, Azure Kubernetes Services)
Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
Strong desire to learn about new trends and technologies
Strong experience in automating build processes, application deployments and continuous integration systems.
Experience in object-oriented design and implementation
Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD)
Solid understanding of formal architecture, design patterns and best practices
Working knowledge of APIs and gRPC in particular
Experience delivering software using an Agile/Scrum methodology
Experience with Kafka
Experience with ElasticSearch (ELK) Stack
Experience with SQL, relational and Document Databases (Ideally MongoDB )
Experience with design, development and deployment of Microservice architectures
