An Engineering Manager is responsible for teams developing systems that support all business lines. Working heavily to support other engineering teams, these teams are responsible for all elements of software engineering, including database schema design, complex business logic processing, and high-throughput API development.

What will you do?

Accessibility to Galway is required at least once per month

Manage a team of engineers developing readable, well-tested applications, APIs, and libraries

Develop and maintain a strong engineering culture within the team, in both technical and social components

Ensure the delivery of technical initiatives through design to iterative development phases

Establish clear requirements for engineering projects in coordination with a Product Manager

Evaluate engineering design proposals in a technical capacity

Evaluate and develop the technical performance of individual contributors

Guide engineers through their career progression and personal growth

Mentor junior engineers

Uphold engineering standards in terms of software and systems quality and performance

Work with engineering teams across the organization

Requirements

6+ years of software engineering experience

4+ years of direct people management experience (includes lead experience)

Extensive prior work with cloud-based systems

Broad experience developing high-throughput backend systems, at the infrastructure and software levels

Deep understanding of observability concepts and tooling

Experience as a hiring manager

Strong verbal and written communication skills
