Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Level 3

The purpose of this role is to work as part of a team to support the development and support of ICT systems. The role holder will perform the day-to-day operations required to develop and support ICT systems in line with the objectives of the Police Service of Northern Ireland s Digital Strategy.
Information and Communications Services Background:
Information and Communications Services Branch (ICS) drives Policing with the Community by providing and operating the ICT systems that support policing 24 hours a day in Northern Ireland. This includes all telecommunications services, including radio communications for all emergency services, CCTV and Video systems that protect police officers, police staff and members of the public, and IT systems that are essential for day to day policing and back-office functions.
Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, normally between 9am - 5pm, with occasional requirement to work outside office hours and/or additional hours when necessary to meet the demands of the role.
37 hours per week (42 hours gross).
Salary: £26,017 to £26,575 plus ICT Allowance (dependent on role) which is £3,713 per annum.
On-call allowance may also be payable (dependent on role)
The main duties and responsibilities associated with the role include the following:
Managing and developing a group or team of technical and/or administrative staff, ensuring all staff operate within organisational policies, procedures, and protocols.
Encouraging the need for staff development to keep pace with changing technology.
Understanding the business needs, using reliable judgement and management ability, with a sound knowledge of ICT and associated issues.
Providing advice and guidance on decisions taken and work performed by self and team members including whether projects should proceed, whether further analysis is required, resourcing and decisions on priorities.
Planning and organising tasks effectively, taking a structured and methodical approach to achieving outcomes.
Gathering, verifying and assessing all appropriate and available information to gain an accurate understanding of situations.
Engaging in contact with private sector ICT suppliers, to discuss technology issues and customer service options.
Engaging with and maintaining regular contact with staff at all levels.
Providing advice and guidance on technical matters, and making informed recommendations regarding the selection and execution of technical solutions.
