Responsibilities
• Manage a team of development leads and coach them to become better manager
• Align work of each pod to achieve the overall team goals
• Lead architecture design across pods
• Establish and maintain development standards and processes for delivering scalable and high quality products
• Ensure consistency in architecture, frameworks, languages and tools
• Provide management and technical leadership for every aspect of software development
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement
• Work with other senior leaders within and outside of development area to achieve overall company goals and desired short-term results
• Ensure developers are adequately distributed between teams and cut off any bottlenecks before they happen
• Arrange training/upskilling when needed
• Organize events to build team spirit and monitor developer happiness
• Showcase work of teams under your management
• Monitor emerging trends for new technologies that can solve problems
• Evaluate projects early in their lifecycle to identify issues and assign these to the appropriate team
• Assist in hiring process and retain talent
Requirements
• 5+ years of commercial development experience using PHP
• 2 years experience managing a team of developers
• Experience of providing Team Leadership and/or mentorship in a distributed team environment
• Has a process for identifying technical tasks that need attention and working with business to get these prioritized
• Skilled at communicating technical concepts to a non technical audience
• Experience with a variety of AWS products
• Clear ability to work in teams, contribute to technical decisions and learn/suggest new technologies
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
• Experience building and maintaining websites, applications and API’s using Laravel
• Understanding of front-end technologies, such as Vue.js
• Comfortable with GitHub and the gitflow model
• Can use ORM’s to access data but also know how to drop down to SQL statements if needed
• Clear ability to work in teams, contribute to technical decisions and deliver exciting new products to the world
• Possess a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
