Job Description

Essential Functions

You will become a critical member of our global IT organization; actively manage and mentor our European IT Team, while also being one of our European Managers - collaborating closely with Sales, HR, Finance, Operations, etc. leaders.
Directly manage and develop a team of talented IT professionals to gather input on regional issues from multiple teams and facilitate appropriate solutions
Serve as primary contact for IT systems support and related inquiries across Europe.

Collaborate with cross functional leaders based in various European locations to gather input on IT support improvements and systems policy decisions
Participate as a key member of the Global IT Team by analyzing the existing networking, infrastructure, and telecommunications areas across Europe and how they can be improved while ensuring investments are cost-effective and in keeping with corporate standards.
Responsible for coordinating analysis, monitoring and response to issues associated with the daily operation of applications and infrastructure.
Assist in the planning, coordination and execution of system installations and upgrades
Provide input on IT support models and plans that outline long-term goals for the IT strategy
Demonstrate a positive "do what it takes" attitude. Exemplify Cognex's "Work Hard, Play Hard, Move Fast" culture; quickly form business relationships with people in and outside the IT Org.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proven history of creating strategic and tactical partnerships with Business Units around the globe.
Experience in budget management and ownership for both CAPEX & OPEX.
The ability to interact with multiple business units and maintain multiple priorities is critical
Has a strong ownership mentality with a history of taking responsibility for solutions, and pushing them through to resolution
In depth knowledge of desktop support and LAN/WAN infrastructure is required
Working knowledge of ERP/database software such as SAP is highly desirable.
The ability to negotiate, develop, review, and approve Service Level Agreements (SLAs) from third party vendors is critical
Inventory management, work with departments like HR to proactively plan the amount of laptops & accessories (monitor, webcams, keyboards…etc) needed for new hires
Ability to translate user input and requirements into actionable technology roadmaps, down to a granular level through compute, storage, and networking configurations.

Minimum education and work experience required:

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a technical field with related experience. An advanced degree is preferred.
10 + years of experience developing and deploying enterprise-level solutions and including some years within a global technology company are required.
Some related project management experience is required; however, this role is primarily technical management in nature.
Experience with compute, storage, networking, data center, end-point planning is required.
