Abacus are delighted to be working exclusively on a Desktop Applications Engineer role with a Global Law firm, who have recently set up shop in Northern Ireland. The first intake of legal professionals on board has been completed and they are now expanding their IT and Operations departments, offering remote if based in Northern Ireland.
This Desktop Applications Engineer role will assist in the change and configuration management of the desktop environment, including image setup/break-fix processes, application packaging and deployment, serves as a key technical resource in projects/tasks associated with the end-user PC environment.
7+ years experience in a Desktop Engineering role in a Windows PC environment.
Expert knowledge and experience with desktop imaging processes, methods for streamlining desktop imaging and repairs, and systems to rollout images and applications, including updates, patches, and custom settings in the O/S and published applications.
Expert knowledge and experience with desktop O/S and applications: such as Windows 10, Microsoft 365 (Office, Sharepoint, Teams, OneDrive and Windows 10/11), hardware driver, BIOS/firmware management.
Expert knowledge and experience with packaging software through the use of Admin Studio and InstallShield.
Expert knowledge and experience with VBScript, AutoIT, and PowerShell scripting languages.
Expert knowledge and experience with Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM).
Expert knowledge and experience with Microsoft Intune (Windows devices, iOS and Android, Auto-pilot, Configuration management) and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
Expert ability to communicate clearly and concisely with Firm employees, clients and vendors.
Ability to work as a member of a team or independently; ability to self-govern.
Excellent sense of urgency and the ability to triage incidents, problems, tasks, and projects quickly and efficiently.
Law Firm or Legal Department experience - preferred
Technical certifications such as A+, Network+, MCP, MCSA, MCSE preferred.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
