Platform Engineer (Solutions Team)
I'm working closely with a hugely successful technology company who operate within the FinTech sector. They're currently looking to expand their solutions engineering team with the addition of an experienced Platform Engineer.
This role is really looking for someone who is very passionate about hardware. From the technical standpoint the role will be about 80% server hardware focused (CPUs, RAID etc) and 20% storage (SAN,NAS, NetApp etc). What's equally important in this role is someone's ability to communicate with vendors. This role doesn't quite fall into pre-sales but you'll certainly be involved in a large part of the solution delivery process. You'll need to be someone who is very confident communicating with external vendors and then equally as comfortable bringing that information back internally and presenting it to senior management.
You'll be working in a follow the sun operation with other engineers across multiple locations. There's no on-call rota and you won't receive any out of hours calls, but you'll need to be used to planning across multiple geographical locations.
Technical Skills
* Excellent Linux engineering experience (RedHat, CentOS)
* Very strong understanding or server hardware from multiple vendors
* Excellent storage knowledge, again across multiple vendors
* Experience with VMware and Openstack would be a big bonus
* Knowledge of ansible and Kubernetes would be the icing on the cake
* Excellent communication skills and a background working with established vendors
