The UK Network Operations Manager is accountable for the performance of our client’s UK operation to agreed service levels and to ensure a continual and seamless service for customers regardless of which services they access.
This person is also expected to have a good working knowledge of all network platforms on a 24 x 7 basis. Focus will be on the end to end customer experience, cost efficiency and continuous improvement both within the Southport CLS facility and the 3rd party UK sites.
The position will coordinate daily between the field operation teams in all global locations and Network Operations management to deliver an efficient, dynamic and functional Operations department resulting in highly satisfied complete customer experience.
Principal Responsibilities:-
Maintain operational standards in line with contracted SLA’s within the UK operation.
Operate and manage the UK operation both efficiently and within budget.
Manage business critical operational situations, working on their own initiative, prioritising situations.
Compile reports detailing UK operational statistics, detailing any trends.
Liaise with internal departments to support the UK operation
Daily / weekly Progress reports are timely and accurate
The provision and management of third line operational support to support the UK operation.
Be a part of the customer escalation process for all UK operational issues
To work with and ensure compliance with stated operational/maintenance and change Management processes
To assist with the Network Infrastructure department who will develop and manage a full PPM schedule and vendor management matrix.
To assist in the diagnosis of major operational issues working with the field team and the company NOC’s
The management of external parties to ensure delivery of contracted solutions to meet operational deadlines.

Person Specification:
Essential Skills & Experience (key competencies)
• Experience
Previous 3 years management experience including management of workload and a live International network.
Minimum 5 years experience working as a Field Engineer in an ISP or other International Telecommunications company.
Experience with design, implementation and operation of DWDM and Ethernet Networks.
Talent management within the UK Operation through empowering, coaching and developing others, taking action to raise the performance of teams and succession planning.
Experience sharing successes, taking best-practice, ideas and resources from others, inside and outside the organisation to deliver a company strategy.
Experience of managing significant opex and/or capex budgets over a number of years.
Operational experience with Submarine and Terrestrial Networks.
Network build and / or roll-out experience.

Solid understanding of ADM/DWDM/Ethernet technology
Good routing protocol troubleshooting skills (BGP, OSPF, MPLS)

Knowledge of network monitoring and other administrative tools
Network Certification (CCIE CCNP, JNCIP) or equivalent training / experience
Familiarity with working in Data Centres and Comms Rooms/Exchanges.
Knowledge of network and service development process.
Proven ability to liaise with UK Network vendors in developing solution options.
Knowledge and experience of project management tools and techniques.
Proven ability to identify root causes to problems and find creative solutions.
General understanding of a selection of Network platforms within the company.
Good knowledge of relevant network protocols / standards (ITU/ ETSI/ IETF)
Strong communications and PC skills.
A Full Clean Driving license.
Willing to travel.
