Architect/Technical Manager

Position Purpose:
The Associate Technical Manager is a highly motivated, self-disciplined individual who manages and technically leads sprint teams within our client’s group in Dublin. In addition to managerial responsibilities, this is a hands-on role where the individual will actively contribute to the platform through the design and development of services within a service oriented architecture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sets priorities and goals for individual software engineers and the collective development team.
• Delivers products and features in an extensible, scalable, efficient fashion and of high quality.
• Works with matrixed management team to set priorities and goals for individual engineers
• Actively leads a sprint team in a Agile environment
• Designs and develops services for the Enterprise Services platform.
• Guides and mentors the team, providing leadership to ensure that all team members are empowered and able to perform the full range of their responsibilities
• Ensures that the team incorporates and exhibits attention to best practices within the client’s System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile SCRUM development methodologies
• Coordinates with development, quality assurance, operations and project management teams to ensure that the development team is meeting stakeholder needs.
• Ensures that team members have sufficient skills to meet demands of job
• Actively manages individual engineer performance through regular 1-1s, quarterly reviews and annual appraisals.
• Stays abreast of emerging technologies and trends, particularly as they apply to the online advertising industry, the internet and rapid software development.
• Actively contributes with idea sharing, brainstorming sessions, etc so as to contribute creatively – not just through execution.
• Effectively manages multiple priorities

Skills:
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple, simultaneous assignments involving teams from multiple locations
• Indepth understanding of distributed, Service Oriented Architecture systems and data management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an effective and efficient development team
• Communicates plans effectively in both verbal and written communications
• Demonstrated management skills, with a proven track record of managing and mentoring individuals in a matrixed environment
• Ability to rapidly acquire and apply technical details and concepts
• Demonstrated leadership and attention to detail in software implementation
• Thorough understanding of Object Oriented Analysis & Design principles, and service orientation
• Specific technical skills sought:
o Strong experience of building web services using Java based frameworks (e.g. Metro, Axis)
o Experience of build applications leveraging ORM frameworks (e.g. Hibernate, iBATIS)
o Experience of building web services and applications using C#, WCF and the .NET Framework would be advantageous
o Relevant experience with at least 1 other high level language & framework (C#, C/C++, Perl, etc).
o Experience with JavaScript, CSS, PL/SQL. Oracle 10g
o Understand and have used SOAP, REST, E-R Diagrams and produced UML diagrams as part of the Design process

Education / Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or a related field, AND
• At least seven (7) years of experience in software development, AND
• At least 2 yea
