Technical/ Desktop Support Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical/ Desktop Support Engineer to join a well-established blue chip organisation based in Dublin (24), Ireland.

As a Technical/ Desktop Support Engineer you will provide remote support of PCs and video conferencing equipment as well as hands-on assistance for IT infrastructure projects /upgrades. This position requires the ability to work in a project-based environment requiring flexibility and teamwork.

The successful candidate will have between 2 – 4 years’ experience in a technical support role with prior experience on Desktops, Workstations, Notebooks and Printers. They MUST have Strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, and Excel) with a thorough understanding of Outlook’s calendaring tool. An understanding of Exchange functional accounts and how they are used within Microsoft technologies is also essential.

Role Requirements:
* Accurately testing, identifying, repairing, resolving, and documenting end user technical issues regarding basic network/desktop support, printers, PDAs, BlackBerrys, and LAN cable drops
* Troubleshooting and resolving software issues; reimaging computers/hard drives
* Backing up and restoring settings and associated systems administration activities
* Taking ownership of issues through to resolution on all appropriate requests.
* Categorize and prioritize end user support requests and service requests by utilizing a Remedy ticketing system to track tickets and provide up-to-date status and information.
* Move equipment associated with escalated help desk incidents and service requests
* Performing asset inventory activities as needed.
* Trains and orients staff on use of hardware and software.
* Recommends and / or performs upgrades on systems to ensure longevity.

Candidates must be available to start immediately as this is for an imminent start and a background security check is required due to the nature of the work.

A driving license would be desirable as travel to different sites may be required.

This is a 6 month contract position but there may be opportunities for a permanent position starting at a salary of €28,000.
