Responsibilities
WeDo Technologies Business Assurance product is a solution for validating the integrity of large volumes of data in the Telecom Operators network.
The main activities / tasks of the Technical Consultant will be
• Working with the customer to define requirements for specific extractions
• Systems level view of how to best transform the data
• Responsibility for development and test of ETL and integration with the WeDo product
• Ownership of and responsibility for technical issues and problems within a project
• Deployment and Configuration of WeDo products
Skills Required
Technical:
Required:
– Degree in Computer Science / IT
– 2+ years Java (J2SE) programming experience, including XML, threading and concurrency management, performance tuning, Junit & Eclipse
– Knowledge of the Unix environment (Solaris and Linux) including file creation & management, networking and hardware configuration.
– 2+ years Unix scripting including awk, sed, grep, cat and standard bash scripting.
– XML editing
– Oracle DB administration experience (2 years)
– Some knowledge of Pl/SQL including the ability to query, update and create tables, perform joins, use SQL functions and apply indexes.
– Understanding of Relational Database structure
Desirable:
– Telecoms experience including analysis of call and/or subscriber records, mediation devices, number normalisation, billing and rating engines.
– Business Objects experience.
– Knowledge of Revenue Assurance concepts
– Experience with development methodologies
– Understanding of source control principles (eg, CVS)
– 2-3 years experience of dealing with customers face-to-face
Personal:
– Must have a strong “troubleshooting and problem/puzzle-solving attitude”.
– Must work on own initiative and require minimal direction and management once established in the role
– Good customer facing manner essential, as well as excellent communication skills. Must be able to work and instruct customers on technical issues and extract, analyse and act on information from people working on remote sites
– Able to operate to full effectiveness in stressful / difficult situations.
– Must be prepared to travel to customer sites and other WeDo office locations throughout the world for periods of up to 2-3 weeks depending on the needs of the projects.

This data is typically extracted from a wide range of heterogeneous systems and is therefore presented in multiple formats. To solve the problem the project team define requirements and are responsible for the delivery of software utilizing the principals of ETL (extract, transform and load) which includes reading data from its source, validating it, normalizing it and formatting it uniformly, and then writing it to the target repository to be exploited by WeDo’s products.
