Objective of the Role
We are currently recruiting a Technical Architect to work in Dublin within an internally focused Programme within the company. The role will primarily be to help validate the existing architecture of our IT systems, to design and recommend changes that will being the applications to best in class, and to work on and play a key role to deliver our re-architecture project. The role will also one of mentoring engineers and leads to make sure developments adhere to the overall plan. This role will work with the other architects and senior management within the company to help define the vision for how we develop and mature our platforms in the next 5 to 10 years. You will also play a key part in the ongoing maintenance and development of internal processes within the Programme.
Duties and Responsibilities
The key functions of the role include:
- Technological advocate for best in class design decisions.
- Documentation of designs, being able to present and sell the vision to a non-technical audience as well as technical resources.
- Produce estimates for work to be carried out, to sufficient standard that initial Business Case approval can we awarded.
- Input to into the Business requirements analysis to help with defining the shape and function of new modules/functions.
- Assistance with management of development team
- Collaborate with our company lead architect in a manner to develop and deliver the architectural strategy and vision.
- Conceptual design of application enhancements and new developments
- Database modeling and design
- Knowledge of large scale transaction based systems; specifically performance tuning and how to optimise front and back end systems.
- Drive Solutions and IT Engineering teams to deliver the re-architecture project
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate would be an Architect who has worked on back end systems in a product environment. Knowledge of financial systems applications would be an advantage as well as dealing with sensitive information and various security measures/standards. Candidate should have experience of reworking enterprise level applications.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- 10+ years working in the software development environment.
- Degree level in relevant discipline.
- Excellent knowledge of various technologies. The knowledge should be practical examples with systems developed on some if not all of the technologies listed –
- Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL, UNIX/LINUX, batch file scripting & automation tools
- Java (J2EE, J2SE, Ejb, XML, Swing) as well as C++
- Other technologies of interest.
- Middleware or service buses.
- Good understanding of OWASP, CWE Top 25 and basic understanding of PCI-DSS requirements.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with keen attention to detail
- The ability to initiate and follow through on tasks and improvements of all levels of complexity
- Initiative to work independently & proactively on project and financial related activities
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- Common sense with a proven track record of delivery
- Must be flexible and adaptable to a changing work environment and business needs
- Having German language skills would be an advantage.
- Knowledge and experience of AR/AP packages an advantage e.g. Oracle Financials, SAP.
