SQL Server Developer

Our city center based client has a requirement for a SQL Server DBA for a 3 months contract. This role is responsible for supporting Oracle & SQL Server databases and ensuring their performance, availability and security. The Team has 7 members, including the team leader.

Responsibilities

SQL Server DBA skills – SQL 2000 2005 required. Possibly SQL 2008.
SQL Server installations and patching.
SQL Server backup using maintenance plans and jobs. Knowledge of EMC Tsimsnap would be useful.
SQL Server recovery including point in time recoveries.
Troubleshooting and resolution of day to day SQL Server issues e..g transaction log filling up, backup issues.
Knowledge of SQL Server replication types – merge, transactional and setting up of publications.
Knowledge of SQL Server DR scenarios.
SQL Server performance monitoring and tuning.
Oracle DBA skills – Oracle 9 & 10g required
Support for Oracle on Unix / Intel (AIX, Windows).
Oracle backup and recovery using RMAN.
Oracle performance and tuning.
Oracle installs and upgrades – patching.
Oracle proactive monitoring.
Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of SQL and Oracle development.
Experience of formulating and monitor policies, procedures and standards relating to database management
Working with other teams and stakeholders to insure maximum availability, backup and restoration when required and working with other teams on root cause analysis of outages.

Skills

Oracle 9 & 10g DBA
At least 3 years experience in Oracle & SQL Server administration
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Experience in working in large numbers of Oracle and Sqlserver production Database, 100 +
Microsoft Sqlserver 2000 & 2005 DBA
