SQL Server DBA – Permanent – Letterkenny – Salary Negotiable – Can work from Home

Main Responsibilities:
* Ensure a stable, reliable, available and secure SQL Server database environment.
* Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to perform all of the basic skills of database administration, including: web connectivity, physical structure, overall architecture, and database analysis.
* Design, implement, and monitor database functionality to ensure stable environments.
* Uphold policy guidelines and standards and recommend new and improved guidelines.
* Identify and initiate resolutions to user problems and concerns associated with database server equipment (hardware and software).
* Identify potential service-level problems before they occur.
Essential Criteria:
* At least 3 years experience working with SQL Server version 2005 and SQL Server 2008, including SQL Server 2008 R2
* Demonstrated experience with database backups and restores, including: backup strategies for disaster recovery, native backups and backup up to tape/virtual tape systems.
* Experience must be within a production support DBA role.
* Proven SQL tuning experience.
* Demonstrated experience with SQL Server monitoring, maintenance and support.
* Experience with High Availability (HA) clustering (Windows clustering and/or Veritas clustering), including: support, installation and configuration.
* Detailed knowledge of the Windows Server platform.
* Proven systems tuning experience: hardware, software, database, etc.
* Ability to follow established process and procedure within a SQL Server environment.
 Desirable Criteria:
* Working experience in SQL Server 2000
* Familiarity with installation and support of SQL Server add-on tools: SSIS, SSAS, SSRS
* Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) certification.
* Experience with third-party backup tools – specifically Idera SQLSafe
* Experience with third-party monitoring tools – specifically Idera Diagnostic Manager
* Experience with a systems development or project methodology.
Core hours are daytime working hours and flexibility may be provided to work from home, however candidates must be available to attend the office when required and for any probationary training.
