SQL Server DBA (Athlone)

SQL DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To have overall responsibility for managing, administering and maintaining all databases within the company.  To provide design and development services relating to SQL, DTS, SSIS and SSRS and ad hoc T-SQL reporting.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.       Responsibility for all database administration for the business.

·         Responsibility for database backups and methodologies, including transaction log shipping and/or other replication options and ongoing review of the type of DB backup methods, replication options to ensure a business appropriate level of data recovery and redundancy.

·         Monitoring and maintaining databases, log files, scheduled jobs, security, permissions, integrity etc

·         Identify, document, execute and report on critical hourly/daily/weekly/monthly checklists.

·         Responsibility for data failover for disaster recovery.

·         Responsible for backing up and restoring databases, and progressing changes and improvements accordingly.

2.       Responsibility for all SQL Server Database Development activities.

·         Contribution to business projects that require SQL Server Developer skill sets

3.       Responsibility for all SQL Server Business Intelligence Development (SSRS).

·         Design, develop and manage all SQL business reports from all databases based on both regular and ad-hoc business needs, including DTS, SSIS and SSRS, and SharePoint integration.

·         Responsible for developing SQL scripts required by business users and responsible for developing and implementing these in SSRS where users require the ability to run the script on a regular basis.

4.       Responsible for the ongoing update and improvement in Database infrastructure

5.       Core Application Integration/SQL Development:  Design and manage the interaction between Avaya PC4 Dialler and Customer Databases.

6.       Participate, support, mentor and contribute as a team member within the IT team on common activities.

7.       Responsible for supporting IT audits, reviewing to and responding to audit recommendations and implementing these recommendations accordingly.

8.       Responsible for maintaining up to date documentation, ensuring that all relevant process/procedures are properly documented and kept up to date.

9.       Provide DBA and DB development contribution to projects and system changes as required.

·         Saturday on call I.T. Helpdesk Support, as per defined roster schedule.

·         Support scheduled system releases as required.

·         Out of hours work to support any/all functions as planned

·         Helpdesk cover as required.

SPECIFIC SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Essential

1.       Proven track record in an SQL DBA role or equivalent, supporting SQL Server 2005 and/or 2008 including DTS, SSIS and SSRS.

2.       Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP) database qualification(s) or equivalent.

3.       Proven track record in a Windows Server 2003 and/or 2008 virtual infrastructure environment.

4.       T-SQL proficiency.

5.       Strong communication and interpersonal skills including excellent written and spoken English.

6.       Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure.

7.       Excellent time management and attention to detail.

8.       Flexibility.

Desirable

9.       Proven track record working with Visual Basic, JavaScript, and Windows Batch File Scripting and within a VMWare environment.

10.   SharePoint and MS Dynamics experience.

11.   Knowledge of Telecommunications Systems.

12.   Proven track record working within a Financial Services Industry.

4.       Database Checklists maintained and monitored 9 out of 10 times

a.       Ability to identify SQL performance issues and solve. Use to DB/SQL KPI’s to demonstrate the issue is solved

6.       Dialler morning files availability at 99%

7.       Reporting availability at 99%

8.       All documentation kept up to date, with regular review dates easily identifiable.

9.       Data availability in DR
