Objective of the Role

We are currently recruiting for the role of Software Engineer in Dublin to work within an internally focused Programme within our company. The role will be both Java (primarily) and database orientated.  In the role, the candidate will be responsible for delivering new changes on our platforms and for other normal aspects of engineering work, e.g. discussing and agreeing with leads timelines for development of work packages and then planning your own work within deadline to achieve these targets. Other expectations include developing and executing of technical system changes to the highest standards, performing code reviews for colleagues, supporting Product Management within requirements definition and QA when they are testing your changes. You may also play a part in the maintenance of the system which may entail out of hours support. You will also play a key part in the ongoing maintenance and development of internal processes within the Programme.

Duties and Responsibilities

• The key functions of the role include:
• Developing changes to time and to budget. 
• Documentation of technical designs and unit test plans.
• Database modeling and designLogging and tracking of issues and requests

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate would be an engineer who has worked on back end systems in a product environment. Knowledge of CRM type and financial systems applications would be an advantage as well as dealing with sensitive information and various security measures/standards.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• 4+ years software development  experience
• Degree level in relevant discipline.
• Excellent knowledge of Oracle, SQL, UNIX/LINUX, batch file scripting & automation tools
• Good knowledge of Java (J2EE, J2SE, Ejb, XML, Swing) as well as C++
• Web security training.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with keen attention to detail
• The ability to initiate and follow through on tasks and improvements of all levels of complexity
• Initiative to work independently & proactively on project and financial related activities
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
• Common sense with a proven track record of delivery
• Must be flexible and adaptable to a changing work environment and business needs
