Responsibilities
- Prototypes, designs, develops, tests and maintains AOL Media Technology systems
- Works closely with product managers, designers and other development teams to ensure successful implementation of publishing platforms, analysis tools and web applications
- Designs and develops for high performance, heavy traffic, and high availability
- Stays abreast of emerging technologies and trends, particularly as they apply to the online publishing industry, the internet and rapid software development
- Actively participates in an Agile development environment
- Effectively manages multiple priorities
Skills
- Expertise in Java and other object-oriented languages
- Experience with or knowledge of Linux, MySQL, SOLR, Tomcat, Hadoop, JSON, Maven
- Ability to write efficient SQL and good general database design skills
- Proficiency with J2EE architectures and frameworks
- Experience with web services design (SOAP and REST), both as a client and a server
- Experience developing in a standards-based environment using version control software such as SVN and CVS and IDEs such as Eclipse or NetBeans
- Proficiency in front-end web technologies, particularly HTML, JavaScript, CSS
- History of creativity, innovative thought, awareness of current technical trends and high levels of performance and motivation
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, AND
- 2-4 years of experience in software development, OR
- Relevant combination of education and experience.
