Software Designer in Test

The “Office Ireland Development” Team (OIDT) is an integral part of the Microsoft team that localizes tests and releases all products related to the Office Suite of Applications.

The “Office Ireland Development Team” Group (OIDT) team is looking for an experienced Software Test Engineer to work on the tools developed for the localization of Office. This is a technical testing role in which the successful candidate will be expected to become an expert in all aspects of the software functionality, including all the underlying/dependant products, components, and technologies.

Responsibilities:
Demonstrates hands-on testing ability,
Highlights inefficiencies within test strategies & provides solutions.
Become an expert in all aspects of the functionality of the assigned tools(s) Reviewing functional specifications and design specifications to highlight problems with the design at an early stage.
Developing a test plan and test suite for the testing of internally developed tools.
Developing test automation.
Creative Problem Solver, proven ability to work through complex issues, implementing creative effective test solutions for the business.

Essential Requirements
A BSc or CS degree or equivalent
Experience in Visual Basic or .Net programming (C#)
Will have 3-5 years test experience which should include experience in functional specification review, design specification review, and designing test plans/processes/test cases
Experience in developing test automation.
Experience in setting up and troubleshooting Client/ Server applications or solutions
Experience in web technologies (e.g. IIS, DHTML, XML, Java Script) designing & coding web solutions is an advantage
Expert understanding of OS concepts
In-depth knowledge of software testing methodologies
Highlights inefficiencies within test strategies & provides solutions
Creative problem solver, proven ability to work through complex issues, implementing creative effective test solutions for the business
Experience in testing web based technologies (IIS, ASP, ASP.Net, XML)
Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with customers to understand local market needs and drive requirements to enhance the customer experience.
Experience in testing databases and Microsoft SQL Server
Good, proven experience of managing self/others to drive individual assignments to successful conclusion.
Can work independently or as part of a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience in security testing Windows and Web applications
