Overall purpose of Job:
To develop and maintain business critical Retail and Non Retail systems.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Development, maintenance and support of JBoss applications (SEAM & J2EE)
• Work closely with internal teams to solve business challenges
• Work to tight deadlines
Essential competencies:
• Excellent problem solving capabilities
• Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility and adaptable in their approach to customer and business needs
• Ability to review and customer and designer inputs
• Work on own initiative
• Strong desire to learn new technologies and keep up to date with new product developments
Education and Experience:
• Relevant third level qualification
• Professional with 5 plus years working in software development experience of which 3 plus years were spent in commercial Java development
• Experience in some or all of the following required: Java development – SEAM, Hibernate, JSF, EJB3, AJAX, JSP, Struts, JDBC
• JBOSS, CVS, Subversion, JUnit, Eclipse
• Strong database knowledge: Informix, Oracle, SQL Server etc.
Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:
• Front end web development technologies: CSS and JavaScript an advantage
• Methodologies: Agile Development(SCRUM, XP), UML
• Operating Systems: Unix or Unix variants
