SENIOR TECHNICAL PRE SALES MANAGER
To manage all pre sales aspects of a technical sales nature within the region. Although this role does not include direct line management of the SEs, it will include indirect management and influencing skills.
The role will include direct management of the centralised Pre Sales Team. To work closely with the local sales organisation to provide any support required during the selling process.
To set the strategic direction of the pre sales team with the Technical Director, BU Managers and other relevant parties and to ensure that this is delivered through closely measured tactics.
Development and maintenance of strategic channel relationships, individually and through key personnel. Maintenance and development of strong relationships with our Enterprise customers.
Identification and delivery of relevant and timely product training where applicable both internally and externally. Developing and maintaining effective communication between other BU and Corp technical teams. Leverage resources across EMEA and globally to ensure the best possible experience for our customers, sales people and channel partners in relation to pre sales support.
Ensure the development and technical advancement of the team, including soft skills. Respond to, delegate or escalate ad hoc enquiries and issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
People management of all indirect reports (SEs continue to report to local Tech Manager)
Building and maintaining a strong relationship with local sales, to ensure alignment of the technical team with sales strategy and tactics
Ensure readiness of SE team to support and sell new products and technologies
Responsibility for service delivery excellence for the region
Key decision maker in hiring, training and development of all technical staff
Identify and drive Solution Champions for each product within the region
Budgetary responsibility for the team (not a budget owner), including operational effectiveness and increasing resource value
Dealing with technical escalations from the field, directly or through delegation
Maintaining a strong relationship with channel partners and major accounts where applicable
Managing technical knowledge within the channel (with the local Tech Manager)
POSITION SCOPE FACTORS
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 8 years in a TECHNICAL management role
Experience of working in a technical environment, and with technical people
Experience of commercial processes, ideally of managing SEs or Consultants
Channel focused, capable of motivating the team, capable of making decisions and to ensure the implementation of strategy and plans. Flexible attitude with strong and proven commercial / business awareness.
Strong communication and people management skills
Understanding of the sales process and solution selling
Ability to balance technical understanding with commercial skills and awareness
Strong decision making and time management skills
Willingness to delegate tasks as appropriate
