Eden Recruitment is working closely with a Software Development Centre based in Galway, Ireland which is looking to recruit a Senior Systems Engineer for their Systems Support team. Working within a fast moving Software Development and Production environment (Web Applications), the System Engineering function will provide suitable applicants with a challenging and stimulating job opportunity.

Senior Systems Engineers can expect to be working within an environment with a diverse range of applications, technologies and 3rd party products and services.

As a Senior Systems Engineer you will be working within a team of 4 other local Systems Engineers but will be liaising closely with International teams in other jurisdictions (USA, India etc).

[b]Responsibilities: [/b]

• Software deployment to production environments
• Implementation of monitoring alerts for early problem detection to prevent production problems
• Owning and enhancing the pre-market verification process
• Provide day support, problem / incident resolution and root cause analysis
• On-call rotation – various shifts split across sites to provide 24*7 support
• Automation of the installation and verification procedures
• Provide data analysis and requirements (Exchange Changes) through the life cycle process
• Provide strong peer leadership

[b]Qualifications & Experience:[/b]

• 5 or more years experience in IT
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills, 3-5 years experience with client/server applications
• Proven history of vendor management skills
• Must posses a strong history of proven peer leadership skills
• Experience in supporting distributed environments in UNIX or Windows environment
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Experience with shell scripts and/or PERL/TCL scripting
• Experience with TibCo and/or RMDS publish and subscribe middleware
• Websphere Administration experience an advantage
• The ability to initiate, coordinate, speak to and manage tasks during high impacting incident calls and lead the team to restore normal service operation as quickly as possible in order to minimize the adverse effect on business operations
• Must have the ability to produce an incident report that lists the events that took place, to include but limited to timeline, root cause, assigned tasks and short-term / long-term solutions

[b]***IMPORTANT*** [/b]

Shift work and on-call (rotating schedule):

Please be aware there is a rotating shift pattern in place that will require the Senior Systems Engineer to work one week in four on an early morning shift (5am start). These will be 8 hour shifts and there is the possibility for these shifts to be worked from home if there is proper infrastructure in place (adequate broadband and phone line etc).

Unfortunately there is no VISA sponsorship for this role. Ideal applicants will already be working in Ireland and have the required status to legally work in the EU zone.
