Senior Lead Business Analyst

Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be a member of the IT Business Analysis team which has
responsibility for defining and implementing changes to the Central Market Systems (Market Pricing, Stakeholder Interfaces, Settlements, Credit Risk Management and Market Finance).

As a senior experienced professional with specialised knowledge the role holder will be responsible for contributing to the functioning and development of the Business Analyst team and will over time, have a strong understanding of how his/her role fits into the wider function.

The main responsibilities of the role will include:
– Co-ordinating and liaising on issues of detailed design, system implementation and vendor product testing;
– Applying specialist technical knowledge and playing a key role in Integration Test planning, preparation and execution;
– Liaising with other functional team members to maintain all functional specifications on a consistent basis;
– Co-ordinating and liaising with Market Participants, System Operator and Meter Data Provider representatives on all interfacing matters;
– Contributing to the overall functioning of the IT department by playing a key role in the definition of business processes and procedures;
– Pre-empting and proactively dealing with issues and showing initiative in order to ensure the effective functioning of the team;
– Ensuring ongoing awareness of market activities and best practice; and
– Applying specialist technical knowledge to assist with coordination of the change control process.

Essential Skills Required
– Third level computing / engineering qualification or equivalent;
– Typically 5-6 years experience working in a related analyst capacity;
– Experience in writing business requirements specifications, functional specifications, business processes and procedure definition;
– Developed ability to present complex business concepts to stakeholders in an understandable manner;
– Strong problem solving skills;
– Experience of structured testing methodologies;
– Strong ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing in business and technical language;
– Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, while also being able to define and guide their own work under minimal supervision.
– Knowledge of electricity system operations or electricity market operations;

Desirable
Experience with software vendor management;
Experience with systems analysis and design;
Knowledge of SQL and relational databases; and
Knowledge of automated test methods and tools.
