Senior Java Software Developer
Our client is a global hi-tech employer with a large software design centre located in the midlands of Ireland. Due to the ongoing success of their software centre, they are now hiring an experienced Java software developer.
Role:
You will be involved in the full software development life cycle, from early analysis & design, through programming, integration and testing, to deployment activities and 3rd line support. This will include programming SW modules / classes; structuring writing, compiling, debugging and executing source code, algorithms and data structures, ensuring the code is understandable and maintainable; performing re-factoring where relevant. You will responsible for analysing requirement specifications, searching for information on solutions, specifying the detailed design for effective implementation (including e.g. secure coding), and for specifying, developing, setting up and maintaining a design environment (manual as well as automated).

Skills/Experience/Qualifications Required
Educated to degree level, you have circa five years OO software development/architecture experience in Java. Any of the following would be desirable:
SCJP (Sun Certified Java Programmer)
SCEA (Sun Certified Enterprise Architect)
Managed Objects Experience / Expertise
Scripting Expertise (SED & AWK, Shell, Perl)
Expertise in development platforms & frameworks and in representational languages (e.g. UML, XML)
Expertise in OSS systems, products & protocols
AGILE.

Candidates will also require the ability to identify critical problems in software early, proposing solutions relating to
Architecture flaws & bottlenecks
Coding flaws, inefficiencies, negative patterns
Impacts on characteristics
Maintainability issues
Reviewing work, questioning, coach and advising less experienced developers

You should be capable of devising, championing and spreading best practice ways of working in software, be familiar with emerging technologies & frameworks and have some experience lf team leading (ideally Agile).
