Department overview:

Our financial services client has a vacancy within the Business Intelligence (BI) Delivery team for a senior developer.

The department consists of a number of teams; this position is on the BI Development team within the Technical Delivery area. This is a senior development role in a dynamic and challenging environment that will suit an energetic and ambitious candidate. The successful candidate will assume a lead role for all current and future developments.

Purpose of the role:

The role will require a high level of technical expertise and the candidate must be able to communicate at all levels. Working closely with Business Analysts and Project Managers the successful candidate will take a lead role in the technical design, build and implementation of BI solutions.

Key tasks & responsibilities:

• Writing detailed technical specifications for associated solutions
• Develop solutions to meet Business requirements using industry standards and technologies (Kimble and COGNOS)
• Advise on appropriate technical solutions during the design stage of a project
• Provide second level support for production systems
• Contribute towards the client’s BI development strategy
• Issue Management and issue escalation
• Management of team tasks, delivery timetable and related work items
• Ability to deliver to agreed deadlines
• Provide development estimates for proposed BI projects
• Work closely with the project managers and assume responsibility for the BI technical deliverables of a project

The successful candidate should:

• Demonstrate multiple examples of successful BI implementations
• Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Demonstrate a clear and critical thought processes
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Have proven documentation skills
• Have the ability to work on their own initiative as well as being a team player
• Take a lead role in the design, construction and delivery of BI solutions
• Have worked in the banking and/or financial sectors for a number of years
• Have a proven track record of on time delivery
• Have a good understanding of the project life cycle / process

Technical Skills:

• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft SQL 2000/2005
• Good knowledge of Microsoft SSIS, SSAS (2005 )
• Excellent knowledge of warehouse and Kimble design
• Excellent knowledge of COGNOS Data and Framework manager tools
• 5+ years delivering Microsoft SSAS and COGNOS (version 8 and above) solutions
