Senior Automated Test Engineer Westmeath, Ireland

FRS Recruitment is currently hiring a Senior Automated Test Engineer for a new role in Galway/Westmeath areas in Ireland. This is a permanent role on a new project working on cutting edge technology.

Our client’s OSS requires a Senior Automated Test Engineer to develop and execute an automation strategy for a newly architected OSS solution based on Linux. The evolution to the next generation of OSS offers the opportunity to significantly reduce lead-time of features to customer.

The successful candidate will work with a team responsible for verification and release of solutions based on the Linux IT Platform (LITP). The verification will include functionality, deployment, installation, upgrade, recovery, backup, availability, system characteristics, dimensioning, load and scalability. The role includes definition and development of automated tests for these purposes using a Continuous Integration (CI) approach to verify the interworking of solution sets on the new platform.

The candidate will need to have previous and proven experience in automation on a system level and also a broad technology understanding covering server hardware, storage, operating systems and IP networks. They need to be adaptable in an environment where change is the only constant and keep pace with technology trends and application requirements.

The team will need to engage with many different layers in the business including systems architects, development engineers, scrum masters and customer facing management to ensure that the right solution is being verified and deployed with the right level of quality at all times.

You will be involved in the following activities:
Definition of automation strategies
Tool selection to fulfill the strategy
Analysis and direction of automation reuse
Development of automation scripts
Verification of automation scripts
Maintenance of automation scripts
Being part of or supporting Cross Functional Teams
Automated verification in a customer like network
Troubleshooting of issues and taking corrective actions

Qualifications:
Successful candidates will have:

Previous roles and a proven record and in test automation and testing
Expertise in tools such as Selenium, Squish, Rational Functional Tester, Rational Performance Tester, JCAT, JMeter
Expert knowledge of Python, Perl or other scripting languages and frameworks
Experience in Jenkins
Knowledge of Maven, GIT and Nexus
Knowledge of Model Based testing and performance engineering
A background in OSS/BSS
Knowledge of Redhat Enterprise Linux administration and troubleshooting
Experience working in an Agile development environment
An understanding of SCRUM, Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development
Strong analytical and design skills, excellent planning and problem solving skills
The ability to be a team player with good customer service skills
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Ability to work independently and on a team with minimal supervision
Education: BSc degree or comparable experience
