Franklin Pharmaceuticals Ltd. is a family-owned manufacturer that is committed to providing animal feed products and pharmaceuticals of the highest possible standards, to satisfy its customer needs, expectations of quality, safety, reliability, and service.
The company is currently renovating its manufacturing site and eager to start its new enzyme production project for application in the animal feed market.
In this regard, Franklin is looking for someone who can work on the design and optimization of the fermentation process. The candidate would need to have a microbiology background and be able to perform enzyme activity (and standard laboratory) assays.
Key Responsibilities:
· Conduct enzyme activity assays of all incoming raw materials and outgoing end products.
· Perform research work and document all developments – the quality control assays must be administered as well.
· Accountable for guiding the scale-up of the fermentation process from a 10L bioreactor to a 20,000/30,000L bioreactor in future.
· Responsible for R&D (focused on production side R&D, not application side R&D), quality control and quality assurance.
· Help develop the fermentation process of production strains (optimize fermentation process).
· Develop laboratory tests which support the company’s sales (rotational viscometer test, pH curve tests, heat stability tests, etc.).
Requirements:
· Third level qualification in microbiology or related discipline
· Adequate laboratory experience
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
· Adaptable and flexible, willing to travel when needed
· Responds positively to changing circumstances and priorities
· Collaboration and teamwork
· Passion for biotechnology
· Experience with recombinant DNA technology
· Experience with enzymes and fermentation processes
· Laboratory instrumentation (UV-VIS, Fluorescence)
· Able to perform desk research (literature)

· Experience with Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
