Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance Analyst, Belfast, £20k, 1 year fixed term contract

The QA Analyst will interface with the QA team, production and support functions throughout the site, and also with customers and suppliers. They will have responsibility for providing microbiological, sensory, technical, analytical and administrative support as needed. The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for providing technical, sensory, microbiological and administrative support as needed to the QA function.   

 To work with multi-functional teams across the site to continually improve systems and processes.
* Implementation and Development of the Company’s Microbiological Sampling Plans to ensure compliance with Customer, Statutory and Technical Requirements.
* Implementation and Management of Company’s Taste Programme to ensure compliance with quality sampling plans and Customer/Technical Requirements.
* Performing and Recording Gas Chromatography Analysis in accordance with site quality sampling plans.

 Key Accountabilities
* Manage my clients Sensory Analysis program, to include development, training, operation and proficiency schemes.
* Perform all routine microbiological and chromatographic testing and analysis, and deliver Continuous Improvement in these areas.
* Provide microbiological expertise to monitor and develop site food safety and environmental control systems including L8 and HACCP and to ensure compliance to legislative, 3rd Party and ISO requirements.
* Act as a key point of contact for microbiological analysis and/or lead investigation into major quality incident.
* Apply Good Laboratory Practice guidelines in all work to include stock control, instrument control, and purchasing of new equipment.

 Qualifications and Experience required
* Candidates should have experience within a role providing analytical and microbiological business solutions.
* Degree level qualification in Microbiology preferred.
* Or relevant degree level qualification that includes microbiology (for example but not exclusively Food Science, Biochemistry etc.) plus 1 year experience in a role providing microbiological solutions.
* Or a third level qualification plus 2 years experience in a role providing microbiological solutions preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* MS Office skills, knowledge of Gas Chromatography, Organoleptic Testing, Laboratory & Quality Management Systems, HACCP and Food Safety Legislation with good understanding of chemistry desirable.
