Our Client is looking for a QA Localization Engineer to join their team in Galway on a fixed term contract basis (until Dec 2012). This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a background in testing and is interested in developing their client-facing skills.

Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to perform all Localization and Software Engineering tasks for Our Client’s Localization department and ensure the department consistently meets or exceeds client expectations by providing exceptional service, quality and value on every Localization project that Our Client undertakes on their clients behalf.

Reports to: Production and Localization Manager

Primary Responsibilities:
Perform the localization engineering sections of a project life cycle of individual software and documentation projects to achieve the highest level of client satisfaction, quality and efficiency.
Liase with the PM department on client quotations ensuring fast turnaround with accurate pricing projections.
Perform daily Engineering and Documentation tasks in a timely, informed and responsive manner which ensures that clients, project managers and translation needs are met.
Analyze and scope projects from the internal / external client including evaluating early prototypes to assess readiness of software and documentation for Localization.
Review and improve the Localization Engineering processes, introducing new tools, processes, technology and automation where appropriate to continuously improve departmental efficiency.
Evaluate new business tools and technologies and stay up to date on new markets trends that may impact on the localization department.
Update and maintain all ISO work instructions relating to the Localisation Engineering functions.
Create and provide training for support teams to ensure back-up is available.
Coaching and communicating with both in-house and external translation tool users to improve tool usage.
Provide ‘back up support’ to the site IT specialist as required.

Requirements:
Third level qualification in Computer-related qualification.
3 years Localization Engineering experience required with expert knowledge of software and documentation localisation tools required.
Experience with some or all of the following computer-aided translation tools : TRADOS Translation Workbench, XTM, Robohelp, Alchemy Catalyst, and knowledge of HTML and XML Formats
A thorough understanding of localisation & globalisation concepts as well as knowledge of encoding, character sets, Unicode, UTF-8.
Experience of Java, Win32 and .Net localisation projects is essential.
Good experience of Web Technologies (HTML, XML, SOAP, .NET, C#, VB) would be an advantage.
Good knowledge of .NET programming languages
Understanding of Windows and Linux Operating Systems an advantage

Adaptable and flexible to changing work environment
Ability to work within a team environment
Analytical with good problem solving skills
Good written and verbal communication skills.
