QA Engineer

SoftCo are currently recruiting an experienced QA Engineer to join our Customer Services Group. Based in our Dublin HQ, the successful candidate will report to the Commercial Operations Manager and will be an instrumental part of rolling out new and customised software. You will ensure that all software meets demanding quality standards and fully delivers all functional specification requirements. The role will involve working closely with other internal departments to ensure projects are on time and on budget.
Responsibilities:
• Design test plans and procedures based on the agreed functional specification.
• Execute tests and record all bugs in the Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
• Develop and execute performance test scripts.
• Participate in the analysis and design phase to ensure that the QA Engineer has a fundamental understanding of the solution requirements.
• Create, configure and maintain software builds and testing environments.
• Create solution specific documentation on install and other specific procedures.
• Liaise with clients during the User Acceptance Test phase of projects.
• Evaluate and communicate test results efficiently and comprehensively.
• Regular reporting on project progress to all key players.
Your Profile:
• A degree in computer science from a recognized University or Technical College.
• Proven experience as a QA engineer in a software development organisation.
• Strong knowledge of Web/Intranet and browser technologies.
• Good understanding of basic networking and hardware, MS Windows and SQL servers.
• Knowledge of Web Services technologies including XML, SOAP & WSDL would be advantageous.
• Experience in report writing and creating step-by-step documentation.
• Fluency in written and verbal English.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and deliver within tight deadlines.
• An eye for detail and a process-oriented approach to all tasks.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
